The Swiss are rarely beaten on their own patch, even at this level of competition.
Forget their trouncing at the Bernabeu, that can happen to any team, Basel are more than capable of bouncing back with a home victory against Liverpool at best odds of 11/4 with Betfred.
The Swiss league leaders had a mighty European home record last season which included participation in the Champions League and the Europa League (W5 D2 L1). That run included victories home and away against Chelsea.
Liverpool have been massively out-of-sorts lately having only tasted 90-minute victory in one of their last five outings - and that came courtesy of a 90th minute penalty against Bulgarian minnows Lugogorets at Anfield.
The Reds have only kept two clean sheets in 17 matches across all competitions and will continue to miss Daniel Sturridge down the other end. Expect a tough night for the Merseysiders in Switzerland.
