Celtic v Barcelona Tips: Over 3 Goals

Celtic are missing key personnel whilst Barcelona can’t stop scoring. It’s a recipe for goals.

The last time these two sides met, Celtic almost left the Nou Camp with a point, only denied by Jordi Alba’s injury time winner. On the balance of play it was probably a fair result with Barcelona dominating 72% of possession and having 26 shots compared to Celtic’s four.

I expect tonight’s game to take on a similar shape, despite Celtic enjoying home advantage. The big problem for the Scottish champions is their lengthy injury list. Emilio Izaguirre, Thomas Rogne, James Forrest and Lassad have all been ruled out whilst Gary Hooper and Georgios Samaras are both doubtful. The disruption to Neil Lennon’s side couldn’t have come at a worse time; they face a Barcelona team that have enjoyed their best start to a domestic campaign in 113 years.

Matches involving the Catalan giants this season are averaging 4 goals per game; with 8 of their 14 matches this season exceeding the 3 goal mark.

The 11/10 (Bet365) on their being more than 3 goals tonight looks excellent value. On Barcelona’s current form the odds should be 3/4.
