Aston Villa v Tottenham Tip

The hosts have already beaten Arsenal and Man City but Spurs dominate this fixture.

The Sunday match in the Premier League looks like a tough one to call with Aston Villa capable of huge results on their day yet still generally inconsistent in front of their own fans. For their part, Tottenham had looked excellent before they capitulated 3-0 against West Ham at White Hart Lane last time out.

One thing we can see about Villa is that their games always tend to be closely fought these days. Paul Lambert has crafted a tenacious young team who will have played Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool and Spurs in their first eight matches after today - a tough start indeed! They are sure to come through that period no worse than mid-table which bodes well for the campaign as a whole.

Lambert’s main problem remains his defence. They have not kept a clean sheet in their last 14 top flight encounters at Villa Park while Spurs have attempted an unrivalled 117 shots on goal in 2013-14.

That said, I do think AVB’s men will have lost a little of their swagger after their humbling at the hands of the Hammers a fortnight ago. At the same time, Villa won’t fear their opponents after toppling the big guns recently.

All things considered a score draw looks a good bet at best odds of 15/4 with Boylesports.
