Aston Villa v Swansea Tip

If the hosts take the points in this one it should be regarded as an upset. We'll go with the more likely result at superior odds.

This is just a good old-fashioned case of backing the underdogs for a very strong reason - they are the better team. Swansea are 9/4 (Bet365) shots despite having six points more than their opponents from three games this season, despite finishing much higher in 2011-12 and after winning the corresponding fixture 2-0 at Villa Park last January.

There isn’t much more that needs to be said as to why Villa are far too short in the betting, even at a best price of 7/5 (Boylesports). They won just four of 19 home matches last season and opened this Villa Park campaign with a 3-1 thumping at the hands of Everton. The nerves that come with playing in front of easily disgruntled fans will not help Paul Lambert’s team any more than it did Alex McLeish.

The Swans arrive unbeaten under Michael Laudrup and will relish the chance to claim another big scalp on their travels. It was 5-0 when they went to QPR on the opening day so another three points should be well within their capabilities on Saturday.
