Flower Powers On

England will be back in action soon.

Andy Flower will stay on as the England Cricket Team's coach. The Test series with Sri Lanka starts later this month.

The news that Andy Flower has signed a new contract to remain England’s team director provides a welcome boost ahead of the Test matches against Sri Lanka that begin later this month. England are 2/5 favourites to win the three game series, with the draw at a best price 4/1 and the visitors priced at 7/1.

Flower took up his post in January 2009 and has since overseen two consecutive Ashes triumphs, both home and away.

“We have made no secret of our determination to become the number one side in the world and challenge for global titles and I feel we have been making steady progress,” said the former Zimbabwe captain.

As well as success against Australia, Flower helped deliver England’s first major tournament win at the ICC World Twenty20 in May 2010. During his time in charge England have risen from sixth to third in the Test rankings. Number one side India tour England themselves this summer for a four-Test series that begins in July. The hosts are currently 11/10 to win that series, with India priced at 11/5.
