England v India ODI Preview

England are favourites to win the five match series and 16/1 for the whitewash.

It has been a tour to forget for India, defeat in the T20 international adding to the whitewash in the Tests. It is no surprise to see England being backed for the five match ODI series at 10/11 with Skybet. An almost unthinkable 5-0 series win for the hosts is 16/1 with the same firm.

Before you get carried away with backing England there are a few points to consider:

• England aren’t very good at one day cricket
Ranked 5th in the ICC ODI Championship, they are two places below India.

• India are World Champions
England have been inconsistent for almost 20 years.

• India’s personnel is vastly different for the ODI series.
A fresh set of players marks a new start. We saw in the T20 the increased enthusiasm in the field.

India are 11/10 to win the series and do not forget there is still a man chasing his 100th hundred. Sachin Tendulkar is 11/4 to be India’s top batsman.
