Cricket World Cup Betting: England Frayed

After narrowly beating the Netherlands, England look homesick and the bookmakers have already packed their bags for them.

England looked dishevelled as they avoided an embarrassing defeat to the Netherlands in their opening match of the Cricket World Cup.

If James Anderson’s bowling was off colour then England’s fielding was pitch black. Dropped catches, fumbles in the outfield and a general lethargy helped Ryan ten Doeschate smash 119 runs and the Netherlands compile 292-6.

England managed to chase down the total with eight balls to spare but the betting public were distinctly unimpressed. England’s odds for the Cricket World Cup continue to drift and they are available at 19/2 with Betfair.

There was also a big move in the top batsman market for Essex all-rounder ten Doeschate. Previously as big as 300/1 he is now only 50/1 after he moved second in the list of leading run scorers for the tournament.
