Zurich Classic Golf Tips: David Toms

david toms

Ranks fourth on tour for GIRs and is a former winner of his home tournament.

The PGA Tour travels to New Orleans this week for the Zurich Classic. The TPC of Louisiana is not an especially testing course, the greens are relatively easy and the holes not overwhelming long. Where the test lies is in hitting the green and hunting the flag.

Our first selection is local player, David Toms. Having grown up in Louisiana, Toms knows the area well and is a former winner of the tournament when played at the English Turn GC.  His record at the TPC is also strong with a T28 and T5 in the last two years.

Having enjoyed a two week break after the Masters, he should arrive at the tournament fresh and full of confidence. A T24 finish at Augusta was a good return for a player enjoying an excellent season. With two top five finishes already to his name, he looks a winner in waiting.

In 2011, Toms has shot rounds in the 60s thirteen times from twenty-six rounds of golf. He ranks fourth for greens in regulation and has the game to contend at his home tournament.
