USPGA Championship Golf Tips: Keegan Bradley

Keegan Bradley Winning The Byron Nelson

The course suits his game and he was in contention for the WGC last week. Hugely overpriced.

As discussed in our USPGA Championship preview it is unusual to see a tournament played on Bermuda grass greens. Firm and fast, you want to be using as much loft as possible when playing approach shots. That means you either need to be a long driver of the ball, or have a high ball flight.

Fortunately, Keegan Bradley has both. He ranks 16th on the PGA tour in driving distance and third for apex height. In summary, he hits the ball high and long. More good news is his results on other Bermuda grass courses. He had a T9 at the Valero Texas Open and a T25 at the St. Jude Classic this year.

The 25-year-old American isn’t just a power golfer, there is more to his game. In his first full season on the main tour he has a win under his belt - the Byron Nelson. He was triumphant in a playoff after he finished his four rounds on three under par, showing great ability to handle a tough course.

Playing in his first major, it is a big ask for him to win but he has proven he can mix it with the big names. Last week he finished T15 at the WGC Invitational and was in contention for the win until the back nine. It proves that his game is in good shape and the experience will stand him in good stead this week.

Back him each way with Victor Chandler with ¼ the odds for a top six finish.
