Women's Wimbledon Tip: Sloane Stephens
The next big hope of US women's tennis has a great opportunity now that Sharapova and Azarenka are out.
Only one player strikes me as a legitimate rival to Petra Kvitova in the bottom of the draw and that’s the young American hope Sloane Stephens who can still be scooped at a hefty 28/1 with Coral.
The 20-year-old has entered the world’s top 20 in 2013 and really put herself on the map by defeating Serena Williams to reach the Australian Open semi-finals in January. She followed that by reaching the round of 16 at Roland Garros but it’s on grass that she really could prosper.
Stephens is a highly athletic all-court player who can dominate opponents at the net. She beat Petra Cetkovska last summer at SW19 when still a teenager and they meet again in round three.
Kvitova is the only one she should fear before the final and therefore it looks like a great opportunity to split our stake between the two of them. With 1/3rd odds paid out if either makes the final we now look to be all over the bottom half of the women’s draw.
