ATP Tour Finals Tip: David Ferrer

The tenacious Spaniard won in Paris last week while bigger names fell by the wayside.

With Murray and Djokovic both making early exits in the Paris Masters last week, it just feels like there’s some long shot potential to be had at the ATP World Tour Finals in London. The Paris champion, David Ferrer, fits the bill nicely as a 25/1 (Boylesports) each-way prospect.

While some of the world’s finest may be flagging a bit as the tennis season draws to a close, Ferrer always seems to have plenty of juice in the tank. He enjoyed a fine run to the semi-finals at the O2 last year beating Murray and Djokovic en route, both in straight sets. This time his draw looks kinder and he wouldn’t require such heroics to reach the final four.

The Spaniard lines up in Group B alongside Federer, del Potro and Tipsarevic; with the top two progressing he doesn’t necessarily even need to beat the Swiss star in the round-robin phase.

The 30-year-old has won a hugely impressive seven titles in 2012. At 25/1 each-way we would get paid out third odds if Ferrer simply won his semi-final. The price is great for a top player, bang in form, with a kind draw.
