Six Nations Betting: Battle For The Wooden Spoon

France and England are heavy favourites leaving Wales and Ireland to fight out the closest game.

Scotland have rung the changes for their match at Twickenham, but it might as well be the call for last orders. With no points they languish at the bottom of the table and a 10/1 chance to beat England, they look like staying there.

The bookmakers don’t fancy Italy to get anything from their game; at home to France they are 16/1 to win. That should set up a straight fight for the wooden spoon against Scotland in the last game of the Championship. Totesport go 10/3 that Scotland adds to their burgeoning collection of cutlery and finish bottom.

The closest game of the weekend is Wales versus Ireland. The winners will be able to look back on a promising Six Nations, the losers face months of soul searching. The tournament is that tight that one win changes the whole perspective.

James Hook is booked to play fly half and when that happens Wales win. It might just be a statistical quirk or maybe playing good players in good positions works. Either way we will find out on Saturday afternoon. Wales are 10/11 to win, Ireland 11/10.
