Rugby World Cup Profile: New Zealand
We preview New Zealand’s chances in the Rugby World Cup with a recommended bet.
New Zealand
Group A
World Ranking: 1
Odds to win: 4/6 (Sporting Bet)
Verdict: The best team in the world, practically unbeatable at home, what can go wrong? Usually something. The All Blacks haven’t won a world cup since 1987 and each campaign is littered with heartache and unexpected defeat. Pool A shouldn’t cause any problems, neither should a quarter-final against Argentina or Scotland. A potential semi-final against South Africa is when things get tough.
Form: New Zealand arrive at the tournament having lost their last two Tri Nations games, a timely reminder that they aren’t invincible. Of all the Test playing nations South Africa have the best record against the All Blacks, winning 45% of their head-to-heads.
Recommended Bet: New Zealand NOT to win the World Cup - 11/8 with Boylesports.
