Rugby World Cup Profile: Australia
We preview Australia’s chances in the Rugby World Cup with a recommended bet.
Australia
Group C
World Ranking: 2
Odds to win: 7/2 (Boylesports)
Verdict: Australia have enjoyed a renaissance in recent years, their rugby buoyed by the vivacity of youth. With players like James O’Connor and Quade Cooper at their disposal, they have one of the most exciting back divisions in world rugby. With a straight forward group, a semi-final encounter with England is on the cards. Avoiding South Africa and New Zealand means the Wallabies have the easiest path to the final.
Form: A shock defeat at home to Samoa is now long forgotten. With the first choice starting XV restored for the Tri Nations, they went and won it for the first time in a decade. A tight win in South Africa shows they have steel to go with the flair.
Recommended Bet: Australia to reach the final 10/11 with Coral.
