Rugby World Cup Odds: Post Six Nations

Champions England were the only team to make headway in the Rugby World Cup betting.

The best of the Northern Hemisphere battled it out for the Six Nations in the final weekend of matches. England travelled to Dublin in search of their first Grand Slam in eight years but they were blown away in the first 30minutes. A rampant Ireland played their best rugby to run out 24-8 winners. It denied England the Grand Slam but left them winners of the tournament.

Before a ball was kicked England were 12/1 shots for the rugby World Cup, they finish it as 9/1 shots. From the bookmakers perspective Martin Johnson and his team made a positive impression.

France suffered the ignominy of defeat in Italy but the bookmakers don’t seem as despondent as coach Marc Lievremont, Les Bleus are 14/1 from 12s.

As for the rest of the teams, they started the Six Nations as outsiders for the World Cup and they remain so. Ireland and Wales are 33/1 and 50/1 chances respectively. The southern hemisphere can sleep easy; the bookmakers say it is theirs to lose.
