Battle Of The Hemispheres

It is north versus south as the quarter-final line up is confirmed for the Rugby World Cup.

All the favourites progressed out of their groups but not without a scare, as Scotland ran England particularly close on Saturday morning. Despite the loss of Dan Carter, New Zealand are still 4/5 (Coral) favourites for the World Cup, as we enter the quarter-finals with a distinct geographical divide.

Quarter Finals

8th October
06:00 Ireland 5/6 (Skybet) v Wales 11/8 (Paddy Power)
08:30 England 4/6 (Paddy Power)v France 7/4 (Bet365)

9th October
06:00 Australia evens (Stan James) v South Africa 5/4 (Paddy Power)
08:30 New Zealand 1/50 (William Hill) v Argentina 22/1 (Bet365)

Apart from the All Blacks’ game, every match is finely poised. At 11/1 with Sportingbet, England are the shortest of the European teams in the outright betting. Ireland are 3/1 (Skybet) and Wales 9/2 (Stan James) to reach the final, and look overpriced on current form.

The Southern Hemisphere is still 2/7 (Ladbrokes) favourite to provide the tournament’s winning team, with the Northern Hemisphere 7/2 with Bet365.
