Euro 2012 Group D Betting: Sweden

Ibrahimovic: 35 goals in Italy for Milan in 2011-12.

Written off by many as a one man team, but Sweden are certainly not coming along to make up the numbers.

Odds to win group: 13/2 (BetVictor)
Odds to qualify: 15/8 (PaddyPower)

Off to a flyer?
You would have to think Sweden will really start to fancy their chances if they get off to a winning start against Ukraine on Monday. Ibrahimovic scored in his team’s opener in Euro 2008 and he’s 11/5 (Sportingbet) to repeat the trick against the co-hosts.

A thorn in England’s side again?
A friendly defeat at the end of 2011 not withstanding, the Swedes just don’t lose to the English when it counts. There were World Cup draws in 2002 and 2006 and a famous victory back in 1992. They are 10/3 (Ladbrokes) to take three points again with the draw at 5/2 (bodog).

To exceed expectations?
Recent friendlies suggest Erik Hamren’s team are coming into form after four straight victories; a return to a 4-2-3-1 formation has looked much more fluid. Underrated by the bookies, they only have to outperform one side to finish third at 5/2 (Bluesquare). But perhaps they can even sneak into second spot and qualify at 4/1 (BetVictor).
