Euro 2012 Group D Betting: England

Hart: May be busy between the sticks.

The Three Lions are suffering their usual bad luck when it comes to injuries. The new boss has his work cut out.

England
Odds to win group: 2/1 (Skybet)
Odds to qualify: 5/8 (bodog)

Unpatriotic value?
Roy Hodgson’s side are 8/5 (Ladbrokes) to be heading home after the first round and it surely wouldn’t be a huge surprise. The manager has barely got his feet under the desk and injuries have already befallen Ruddy, Barry, Lampard and Cahill. The omens aren’t great.

Hart in mouth time?
The good news is that England may have one of the best goalkeepers in the competition. PaddyPower are offering 6/1 that he saves a penalty during the group stages and 12/1 that he keeps clean sheets against France, Ukraine and Sweden. Hodgson has won his first two games 1-0.

The new sensation?
There may be a dearth of exciting new talent coming through for the Three Lions but Arsenal’s Oxlade Chamberlain bucks the trend. The 18-year-old could follow in the footsteps of Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney by announcing his arrival on the big stage with a goal; he is 7/1 (PaddyPower) to find the net at least once during Euro 2012.
