Warwick Tips: My Kingdom

Wears a hood for the first time, a tactic the trainer uses to bring about an immediate improvement.

The 5.10 Warwick is an excellent opportunity for trainers to land a decent prize with lower grade horses.  The winner gets £15,500, a big payoff considering the highest rated horse in the field is 83.

These types of races are rare events in the racing calendar, but when they do crop up the ultra-shrewd Stuart Williams normally has a runner.  He saddles My Kingdom in the race, who wears a hood for the first time in his career. The sudden application of headgear when there is a big prize on offer is a tactic Williams has used already this season.

In the final of the Blue Square Sprint Series, when £9,700 was on offer, he put a visor on Aldermoor for the first time. It did the trick, bringing about an instant improvement as he won by 1.25 lengths.

If the headgear has the same effect on My Kingdom, it could be enough to win at 10/1 with Stan James.
