Sandown Tips: Taajub

Not beaten far on his last start at Sandown when badly blocked in. Draw better than it looks with slow starters on his inside.

The traditional Sandown draw bias might not be apparent in the 2.05 because the horses with the best draws don’t have the early speed to capitalise on their positions.

Tidal’s Baby, O’Gorman and Lupo D’Oro generally race at the back of the pack which means a horse with a middle draw could get close to the favoured far rail.

Taajub can race handily and I expect Adam Kirby will be aware of the slow starters on his inside and look to take a prominent position.

Three starts back he was unlucky to finish fifth, only two lengths behind the winner, when he got no sort of run. He finished ahead of Dungannon and Lupo D’Oro that day and with a clear passage I expect him to confirm the placings.

Peter Crate’s six-year-old has been below par on his last couple of starts but last year he was good enough to place in Group 3 company and now that he’s slipped down the handicap he can be competitive again at 12/1 (Boylesports).
