Sandown Tips: Oldjoesaid
Change of yards has seen the old sparkle return, making him dangerously well handicapped.
Trainer Paul Midgley is becoming a master at revitalising old sprinters and Oldjoesaid should run well for him in the 2.20 Sandown.
A winner on debut for his new yard, he followed up with a good run from a poor draw at Musselburgh on his last start. In both races, he clocked a speed rating on a par with his best form from last year.
Although he is drawn slightly wider than ideal in stall 8, the rail is moved in 3yards on Sandown’s sprint track and that often negates the traditional bias. He will enjoy the strong pace and stiff finish and as long as the ground doesn’t dry out significantly he should be in the mix. At 4/1 (ladbrokes) he looks the best bet in the race.
