Sandown Tip: Triple Aspect

Astrophysical Jet lost propulsion

Has an excellent record at Sandown and won a stronger renewal of the race last year.

As I have already mentioned there aren’t many top class five furlong specialists around. There are plenty of very good sprinters, but nothing exceptional. The same must be said about the field contesting the 2.00 at Sandown.

Kingsgate Native had the potential but has gone backwards since his Golden Jubilee triumph in 2008. After two poor runs at Royal Ascot Sir Michael Stoute has applied a first time visor – it smacks of desperation.

I had high hopes for Astrophysical Jet this season but she has run two clunkers. Well below her best, there is no obvious excuse and perhaps she has simply lost form.

Almost by default I arrive at Triple Aspect; a horse I would only consider backing at Sandown. Winner of the race last year, his record at the track is now: 1121. The only defeat being a race he threw away by veering left.

He ran a fair race last time out at Baden-Baden, finishing fourth. That was over six furlongs on an easy track; a stiff five is much more to his liking. He arrives in similar form to last year, has a good draw and I can’t see anything to worry him.
