Sandown Tip: Brandywell Boy

Has bagged the plum draw and shaped as if coming into form.

The five furlong chute at Sandown is separate from the main track and despite its infrequent use there is a bias to exploit in the 6.30 race.

In the last five years in sprint handicaps, stall 1 has won almost 25% of the time, 2.31 times more often than it should. For whatever reason that far rail has always been the place to be and if you are drawn in stall five or higher life gets difficult.

Concentrating on the lowest four stalls, Brandywell Boy stands out. A consistent performer his record over five furlongs is good with seven wins. His last run can be ignored as it was over six but before that he put in a creditable performance at Bath. After seeing too much daylight he was only beaten 1.25 lengths behind Collect Art and Flowing Cape; those horses franked the form by finishing 1-2 in their next race.

With pace around him he should get a good tow and if the gaps open on the far rail he could sneak through at generous odds of 20/1.
