Prince of Wales’s Stakes: Saint Baudolino

One of the best 3-year-olds in France last season and has a potent finishing kick off.

Godolphin have had a rough couple of months but they’ve still got plenty of good horses to look forward too, none more so than Saint Baudolino in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes (3.45 Ascot).

He spent last season in France with Andre Fabre where he was amongst the best 3-year-old colts. He won a Group 2 at Deauville and was unlucky to lose in the Prix Du Jockey Club, when hampered in the home straight. He also finished a close third in the Grand Prix de Paris when a combination of 12f, soft ground and a slow pace didn’t play to his strengths.

To be seen at his best Saint Baudolino needs a strongly run 10f on good ground, which he should get at Ascot, especially with Windsor Palace acting as pacemaker for Camelot. At 14/1 (BetVictor) he represents the value in the race.
