Jersey Stakes Tip: Codemaster
Broke the course record at Newmarket on his last run and still looked a little green. An exciting prospect.
The 2.30 Jersey Stakes can be a funny race with inexperienced three year olds trying to find their right trip. We have a collection of milers looking to find the winning thread by dropping down in trip, plus sprinters trying to stretch to an extra furlong.
When looking for the winner I want to see a horse who has already excelled at seven furlongs and Codemaster fits the bill.
A precocious juvenile he showed plenty of speed to finish second in the Redcar two-year-old trophy. The step up in trip this season has made him even better. On his last start at Newmarket he broke the course record despite getting unbalanced by the undulations. That is no bad thing, in the intervening month it has given the trainer something to improve upon.
In his four career starts, he has never been outside the top two. He has the perfect blend of speed and stamina and looks good for the Jersey Stakes.
