Diamond Jubilee Tips: Magical Memory
Earned a huge speed rating in a strongly run Duke Of York Stakes and we should get more of the same.
Only nine runners are down for the Diamond Jubilee (4.20) and it certainly isn’t the strongest renewal in living memory.
Undrafted returns to defend his title but he is no Lady Aurelia. He was beaten in the 2014 July stakes on good to soft ground and conditions aren’t to his liking.
The key form is the Duke Of York stakes in May. Magical Memory came out on top by half a length and should confirm the placings.
The 4-year-old has developed into a smart sprinter and has won four of his last five starts, getting better with every run.
At York he tracked a strong pace and recorded an impressive sectional adjusted speed rating of 116. That marks him out as a top draw sprinter.
Stall 10 might appear problematic but he is drawn next to the speedster Holler and should get a good tow into the race, in what is a small field. A strongly run 6f is ideal and he should confirm his superiority.
