Coventry Stakes Tip: Coase
Impressive in soft conditions at Carlisle. Form underrated but Coase was fastest closer by 0.52s, earned an adjusted speed rating of 92. Form franked by Vardon Flyer's second at York.
Carisle novice winners tend not to win at Royal Ascot but put your snobbery to one side because Coase is a seriously exciting sprinter. In a truly run race on soft, he came through to win by 4 lengths. Visually he was impressive but on the clock even more so. His closing sectional was the fastest in the race by 0.52s and he earned a sectional adjusted speed rating of 92 on debut which puts him in the mix with Arizona and Threat.
The form was franked on Saturday with Vardon Flyer finishing second in a competitive maiden at York, as we predicted in this column.
If Coase’s winning debut had come somewhere other than Carlisle he’d be half the price but hit didn’t so we must make the most of this edge. Paddypower are paying 1/5 odds and 4 places.
