Ripon Tips: Beckermet
Won three times on soft ground in 2011 and testing conditions suit his extra stamina.
Persistent rain means the going for the 4.30 Ripon is soft. The market has moved in favour of Lucky Numbers as he enjoys cut in the ground, but fellow mud lark Beckermet has been forgotten.
A veteran at 10-years-old, he enjoyed a productive campaign last season, winning four times. Three of those wins were on going described as soft; he needs the cushion provided by soft ground because of problems with his feet.
He stays 7f, therefore has the stamina to cope if the going is very testing. With so many horses unproven under the conditions he is overpriced at 20/1 with Stan James.
