Newcastle Tips: Taffetta
Has looked one-paced over shorter trips but has ability and should improve over 7f.
Taffetta races over 7f for the first time this evening in the 7.50 Newcastle and the step-up in trip looks a sensible move.
On her last couple of starts over 5f she’s been momentarily outpaced, usually as the tempo quickens 2/3f from home but over a longer trip there should be less emphasis on speed.
Two starts back at Pontefract she looked uncomfortable as a steadily run race turned into a sprint. She finished strongly and ran a good time for the grade but lacked that immediate acceleration. It was a similar story at Redcar 17 days ago.
Taffetta doesn’t lack ability or speed for that matter, she just needs a bit of time to hit top gear.
She is capable of winning in this grade and is a good bet at 7/1 (Bet365).
