Newcastle Tips: Bollihope
3/3 over course and distance and quickened well off a solid gallop to reel in Taopix last time out.
As a punter, I’m still getting to grips with Newcastle’s new all-weather track but it’s not been a problem for Bollihope. He’s three from three over course and distance and is the one to beat in the 2.35 contest.
The 5-year-old started his winning run off a mark of 58 and is now rated 72, however his last two wins have come in class 5 handicaps and he runs in the same grade this afternoon.
His win over Taopix 36 days ago, was the most impressive of the lot. Held-up in rear behind a solid gallop, he quickened well to catch the long-time leader right on the line. Connor Beasley couldn’t have left his run any longer but the horse responded with the fastest closing sectional in the race by 0.57s.
I gave Bollihope an adjusted speed rating of 77 for his win, which suggests he still has something in hand off his new mark and he is a solid bet at his favourite venue.
