Lingfield: Bernie's Boy
Ran well over the minimum trip before Christmas. Step up to 6f in his favour and a repeat of that 21.79s closing sectional he ran in November would see him score.
I backed Bernie’s Boy before Christmas at a big price and although I got no return I garnered enough information to get my money back next time he runs. With an all-weather record of 5/23 he always deserves respect on an artificial surface but I was perhaps guilty of forcing a bet.
Although Bernie’s Boy has won over the minimum trip his best results are over further and everything happened a stride too quick for him last time, especially around the bend where he lost precious ground. A return to 6f is in his favour and it wasn’t long ago that he clocked a 21.79s closing sectional at this trip, when a close 7th behind Silca Mistress. A repeat of that run should see him go very close.
