Hurricane Fly Evens For Champion Hurdle

Wind in his sails

Any concerns over Hurricane Fly’s wellbeing were dispatched after winning in the Irish Champion Hurdle.

It has been a bumpy road getting Hurricane Fly back to the track but a smooth victory in the Irish Champion Hurdle confirmed him as the one to beat in March. The bookmakers reacted to his 6.5 length victory, by cutting Hurricane Fly to evens (Paddy Power) from 7/4 for Cheltenham’s Champions Hurdle.

The weekend’s other big race was the Argento at Cheltenham, a useful Gold Cup trial. Several horses were looking to enhance their credentials but only Midnight Chase emerged with his reputation improved, the ten-year-old seeing his price cut to 20/1 (Paddy Power) from 66/1 for the Gold Cup. Captain Chris, Diamond Harry and Time For Rupert all failed to shine and have seen their prices drift.
