Chester Tips: Ballesteros

Overcame a poor draw, when impressive winner at Sandown. Handles soft conditions.

I was mightily impressed by Ballesteros’s win at Sandown last time out and even at short odds, he looks good value in the 3.05 Chester.

A winner two weeks ago, he was poorly drawn in stall 6 and forced to race at the back of the pack. As a result, he had to make up several lengths on the pacesetter Bear Behind. No mean feat considering that horse is rated 99 and an exciting sprint prospect in his own right.

Victory was achieved on ground described as ‘heavy’, similar to conditions that he faces today. He is well drawn in stall 3 and racing off a rating of 99, he still looks well handicapped. He should be half the price of the 9/4 (Betfred) quoted.
