Ryanair Chase Preview

The latest odds, trends and preview of the Ryanair Chase.

Ryanair Chase Betting Preview

Race Type: Chase

Distance: 2m 5f

Race Profile: Introduced in 2005, the Ryanair Chase plugged the gap between the Champion Chase and the Gold Cup. In 2008 it was awarded Grade One status. Even with such a short history it has been used to springboard a Gold Cup winner, with 2009 winner Imperial Commander taking the blue riband event in 2010.

Six Year Trends:

Just 1 of the last 6 favourites have won.
Only 1 of the last 6 winners had won their last race.
4 of the last 6 winners had raced in the Paddypower Gold Cup.
4 of the last 6 winners have been nine or older.
The average starting price of the winner is 6/1

Race Preview: The Paddypower fifth placed horse Poquelin heads the betting and has an excellent record at Cheltenham with four wins. Ascot Betfair Chase winner, Riverside Theatre is second favourite but seems better suited to flatter tracks. 2009 Paddypower winner Tranquil Sea, features high in the betting and will be looking to prove that last year’s Ryanair run was all wrong.
Our Verdict: Albertas Run
