Gold Cup Tips: Bobs Worth

Won the best trial and is unbeaten in four starts at Cheltenham.

There’s no reason to over complicate things for the Gold Cup (3.20 Fri). Bobs Worth won the best trial, is unbeaten in four starts at Cheltenham and has no stamina worries.

On ratings, he has a tiny bit to find with Silvinaco Conti, their best runs are one pound apart according to Racing Post Ratings, but we’ve not seen Bobs Worth for 104 days and he has probably improved since then.

Considering he has never raced on anything worse than good to soft you can understand Nicky Henderson keeping him away from testing winter ground. There was nothing to be gained by slogging his guts out for minor prizes.

In a competitive Gold Cup, the difference could be Prestbury Park. In four visits to Cheltenham he has never been beaten and two of those races were Grade Ones.

With so much in his favour, Bobs Worth is a deserving favourite and at 3/1 (Betfred) he looks very tough to beat.
