Coral Cup Tips: Timesremembered

With 28 runners set to go to post, the Coral Cup (2.40) is fiendishly difficult but without a set of darts and a Racing Post, I’ve gone down the traditional form studying route.

Son Of Flicka and Get Me Out Of Here made the short list, both horses falling into the Cheltenham ‘been there – done that’ category but they aren’t hiding much from the handicapper.

Instead, I have gone with Timesremembered at a whopping 40/1 (BetVictor).

He is a novice, therefore his jumping is a concern but we are compensated by the fact he is only six and almost certainly still improving.

He finished a good second behind Creepy over course and distance in November and has been plying his trade in Pattern company all season.

The soft ground contributed to defeats at Newbury and Doncaster; he pulled very hard last time out and a strong pace on better ground should suit.

It is interesting that Emma Lavelle has gone down the handicap route with this horse and I suspect connections fancy their chances of scooping a big pot. At 40/1 (BetVictor) he is a good each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
