Cheltenham Market Movers: Monday

We update all Monday's major market movers for the Cheltenham Festival.

10.57 UPDATE: It’s been a brisk morning on the Cheltenham antepost markets with lots of small movements in prices but no big plunges as yet.

Spirit Son has come in for some support in the Supreme Novice’s and is 11/2 from 6/1 with William Hill.

In the David Nicholson Mares Hurdle there has been sustained support for Sparky May and she is 7/2 from 4/1 with most firms.

Menorah is hardening as favourite in the revamped Champion Hurdle market where only Sportingbet go 10/3, with every other bookmaker ducking him at 3/1.

In the top jockey market Daryl Jacob has been subject to some sustained support and is now 25/1 from 50/1. With a decent set of rides provided by Nick Williams and Paul Nicholls, Daryl Jacob already has 12 rides booked for Cheltenham but none shorter than 7/1 in the betting. Ruby Walsh heads the betting at 2/1 with William Hill.

16.30 UPDATE: With under a day to go the Cheltenham Festival markets are still in a constant state of flux. Most prices have contracted after the 24 declarations were announced, rather than due to a weight of money.

One horse seeing plenty of interest however is Quevega who is now odds on for the David Nicholson Mares Hurdle and a best price 10/11.

The bookmakers have shortened Captain Chris after he takes up his Arkle entry and Coral are the only firm laying 9/1.

Elsewhere Maljimar has also proved popular in the Cross Country Chase, now 13/2 and 6/1, with only a handful of bookmakers still holding the 7/1.
