Cheltenham Day 4 Sectional Timings Preview

Cheltenham Day 4 Sectional Timings Preview

We highlight stand-out performers on the clock running on the final day of the Cheltenham Festival.

The highlight on Friday is the Gold Cup and will anybody be able to match Coneygree’s monster speed rating from 2015?

1.30 Triumph Hurdle

Frodon is a big price but is 8lbs clear on speed ratings from his Haydock performance. Sceau Royal has run three good figures in a row, including a career high at Cheltenham.

2.10 County Hurdle

Four horses have run adjusted sectional speed ratings close to their handicaps: Some Plan, Sternrubin, Mad Jack Mytton and Kayf Blanco. Only half a length separated Mad Jack Mytton and Kayf Blanco at Cheltenham in December.

2.50 Albert Bartlett

A more open race than the betting suggests. Shantou Village deserves his place near the head of the market but don’t rule out Up For Review or Unowhatimeanharry who have strung together some good speed figures.

3.30 Gold Cup

The King George is the strongest bit of form and that has only hardened after Vautour’s magnificent win in the Ryanair. Cue Card has the top-two speed ratings (he earned an even bigger number at Haydock) but Don Cossack and Smad Place aren’t far behind if he falters.
