Champion Chase Betting Guide

Is there anything that can beat Sprinter Sacre? We run the rule over the Champion Chase field.

Sprinter Sacre
Odds: 3/10 Paddy Power
Season high Racing Post Rating: 178
All-time high RPR: 178
Verdict: Seems to be getting better and better. He’s won all seven of his chase starts, the last three by an average of 14 lengths and they were all Grade Ones.

Sizing Europe
Odds: 6/1 Bet365
Season high RPR: 173
All-time high RPR: 176
Verdict: Has been slightly forgotten in the build up but don’t forget he was winner of the race in 2011 and a slightly unlucky second last year. He’s won his last five starts and his best RPR is only 2lbs below that of Sprinter Sacre.

Mail De Bievre
Odds: 22/1 Stan James
Season high RPR: 140
All-time high RPR: 150
Verdict: Only had one race in the UK and is stepping back in trip from 3-miles. Has plenty to find on ratings.

Sanctuaire
Odds: 28/1 Bet365
Season high RPR: 171
All-time high RPR: 171
Verdict: At his best when allowed to bowl along in front but that usually sets up the race for Sprinter Sacre. Well beaten by the market leader twice this season.

Best of the rest: Somersby and Wishfull Thinking are both good horses in their own right and could pick up some decent prize money, however they lack the class of the top two in the market.
