Ayr Gold Cup Tips: Morache Music

Drawn near the pace and at his best in big fields on soft ground.

The 3.30 Ayr should produce a thrilling Gold Cup but as usual in such a big field, the pace and draw could play a big part in the outcome.

The two early pacesetters look being like Sholaan in stall 2 and The Cheka in stall 11. They neatly provide two pace book-ends for the horses drawn low and that’s where I’ve focused my studies.

Morache Music, well berthed in stall 4, could be the main beneficiary. To be at his best he needs the searing early gallop often found in big fields. On his last couple of starts he’s been undone by front-runners dominating small fields, but go back to the Wokingham and you see his potential. He finished 4th of the 28 runners despite suffering a troubled passage through the pack.

All his winning form has been on soft ground, therefore conditions should be no problem for him today. I think slow conditions suit him because he can lack a change of gear and is often niggled along early in his races.

With plenty of factors in his favour, Morache Music looks over priced at 25/1 with William Hill.
