Ayr Gold Cup Tips: An Saighdiur
Finished third in the last two Silver Cups and this has been his target since April.
An Saighdiur started his turf campaign in April by winning a Listed contest at Cork and after the race trainer Andrew Slattery immediately nominated the Ayr Gold Cup as his next target.
Having finished third in the Silver Cup for the past two years he clearly likes the course and he seems to be improving with age.
Since winning at Cork, An Saighdiur has been outclassed in Group 3 sprints, his front-running tactics leaving him a sitting duck against smart opposition.
The good news is that defeat has kept his handicap mark to a realistic level.
Well drawn in stall 23, I expect a big run from An Saighdiur especially if Billy Lee returns to more patient tactics.
