Times over the first two days at Ayr’s Western Meeting had suggesting the going was good to soft. A deluge on Friday afternoon turned the going soft and that is probably the best we can expect for the Gold Cup. We have narrowed it down to horses who have previously won on official going rated good to soft or softer.

The majority of sprint races at Ayr this week have been won by horses who raced prominently or just behind the pace. There are very few front runners in the line-up for the Gold Cup and if only a modest gallop is set, then we can scratch those horses who only win from off the pace.
