All Weather Double: Caldercruix & Alnoomaas
Can finish their races strongly and each-way terms attractive in 8 & 9 runner fields.
Today’s racing selections provide one of those rare opportunities to play an each-way double. Caldercruix (4.20 Southwell) and Alnoomaas (6.00 Kempton) run in 8 and 9 runner races respectively. That means bookmakers pay 1/5 odds for a top-3 finish.
We have already discussed their win prospects, but with stamina proven over further, they are likely to be finishing their races strongly. If they don’t win, they are the type of horses to run into a place making them attractive each-way bets.
At 34/1 (Paddy Power) I recommend a small each-way double but if a non-runner reduces either race to 7 runners, it is a bet to avoid as the each-way terms become the top-2 only.
*If both horses fail to win but place, the double returns 2 points in total, making a 1 point profit overall.
