2011 Flat Jockey Championship

Race Jockeys

Ryan Moore is an even money favourite to reclaim his title, with Kieren Fallon his nearest rival according to the betting.

The flat jockey’s championship starts in earnest today, with Catterick hosting the first turf meeting of the season. Ryan Moore is the bookmakers’ favourite at evens to regain his title, with last year’s champions Paul Hanagan a 5/1 chance.

Six time champion jockey Kieren Fallon is second favourite at 7/2, whilst Richard Hughes is 8/1 after his near miss in 2010.

Twelve months ago Hanagan was a 40/1 chance to win the title and there are a whole host of names at a similar price this year. Silverstre De Sousa, 40/1 with totesport, broke the 100 winners barrier last season and will need to count on the same level of support to be competitive again.

Fans’ favourite Frankie Dettori is a 50/1 outsider because he rides more infrequently then all his rivals. Instead he focuses on the top races as part of his Godolphin association.
