WGC Bridgestone: Hideki Matsuyama
Almost identical profile to last year’s champion Rory McIlroy. Leads tour in strokes gained tee-to-green and second in par-4 scoring.
Hideki Matsuyama is enjoying an incredibly consistent season and hasn’t finished outside the top-25 in his last 11 starts worldwide.
The 23-year-old is up there with the best and Firestone is a course that should suit his game.
In two visits to the course he has finished T21-T12 and that is without getting anything going on the greens.
Matsuyama leads the PGA Tour in strokes gained tee-to-green and is second on tour in par-4 scoring. In that respect, he is very similar to 2014 champion Rory McIlroy who led the tour in both metrics last season.
At 28/1 (William Hill) he is a cracking each-way bet.
