Wells Fargo Tips: Phil Mickelson

Six top-10s from eights visits. Should be shorter than McIlroy and Woods considering he was 13 shots better at the Masters.

For a player with 40 tour wins you would expect Phil Mickelson to have a good record at most tournaments, but his record at Quail Hollow is particularly impressive.

His results at the event are remarkably consistent, with finishes of: T5-T7-T35-T3-T12-T5-2-T9 stretching back to 2004. The only thing missing is a win.

The world number 10 arrives in North Carolina refreshed after a break and should be raring to go. The signs at Augusta were positive, if it wasn’t for an unlucky ricochet off a temporary stand he could have won a fourth Green Jacket.

Considering he finished 37 places ahead of Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods it is strange to see him bigger in the betting than both of them. At 11/1 (Stan James) he looks an each-way certainty with 1/4 odds for a top-six finish.
