USPGA Championship Golf Tips: Ryan Palmer

Six top-20 finishes in his last eight tournaments and T19 in the USPGA last year.

A three-time winner on the PGA Tour, bookmakers consistently underrate Ryan Palmer. One of the most reliable golfers on tour, the 35-year-old from Texas is enjoying another good season.

In his last eight tournaments, Palmer has six top-20 finishes and four top-10s. That is Luke Donald like consistency, yet he is forgotten in the betting at 150/1 (Betfred).

Overlooked by the bookmakers, punters should not make the same mistake. Palmer ranks 12th for birdie average, 15th for driving distance and 21st for adjusted scoring average; the key elements needed for success.

A major championship brings pressures beyond those of a regular event, but Palmer is starting to get to grips with those demands. He finished no worse than T30 in the majors last year and has made the cut in four of the five PGA Championships he has started.

The odds don’t reflect his ability and at 150/1 (Betfred) he is an excellent each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
