Tour Championship Tips: Sergio Garcia
Superb record on Donald Ross courses and runner-up last time he played in the Tour Championship.
After a couple of seasons in the doldrums Sergio Garcia has recaptured his best form, peaking at just the right time for the Ryder Cup.
The Spaniard has shot under par in 11 of his last 12 rounds on the PGA Tour and this week’s course ideally suits his game. In four starts at East Lake he has finished T15-T20-4-P2, losing in a playoff to Camilo Villegas on his last visit in 2008.
There is something about Donald Ross designed courses that sits really well with Garcia. Last month he won the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield CC and he finished T12 at Atlanta Athletic Club in last year’s PGA Championship. If you look at his last five results on Donald Ross courses, he has finished 4-P2-4-T12-1.
With that kind of record he looks a steal at 25/1 (Paddy Power). Back him each-way and get ¼ odds for a top-4 finish.
