Kyle Stanley Suffers Torrey Pains

It was a desperate evening for Kyle Stanley and his supporters after he lost a three-shot lead on the final hole of the Farmers Insurance Open.

As his caddie talked to the camera on the 18th fairway it was unfathomable that Kyle Stanley could blow the three-shot lead he had fought so hard to retain. Clutch putts on 14, 15 and 16 had seemingly won the tournament before the late drama unfolded.

Needing a double bogey on the final hole to win, Stanley found the water with his third shot and the subsequent three-putt meant a playoff with Brandt Snedeker. After sharing the re-played 18th with birdies, the pair played the par-3 16th, a hole which proved decisive.

Snedeker was fortunate to see his tee-shot clatter into the TV tower preventing an almost certain out of bounds. An excellent up and down was too much for Stanley to handle, who missed a six-footer to gift Snedeker the most unlikely of victories.

It was a painful finish for the Betting Bias golf tipster who watched in agony as his 125/1 antepost tip went up in smoke. The real sympathy lies with Kyle Stanley, understandably distraught after the loss. But the way he struck the ball, under immense pressure in the playoff, confirms he has a bright future ahead of him.
