Texas Open Tips: Michael Putnam
Generally starts tournaments well and that might be enough to keep him in the mix on a tough course.
When it comes to fast starts there aren’t many better players on tour than Michael Putnam.
The 31-year-old is currently seventh on tour for first round scoring average and it is surely only a matter of time before he strings four good rounds together.
The elder-Putnam brother has made 8 cuts in 11 starts this season and his consistent play could be rewarded in Texas.
He is ranked 10th on tour for GIRs and on a tough course there is less pressure on his sometimes erratic putter.
Just keeping the ball in play might be enough and he could go well at 300/1 (Boylesports).
